It’s a growing trend. School districts across the nation are hiring teachers from foreign countries. Prince George’s County employs a staff of 10,000 teachers, nearly 600 are Filipino. Experts say many school districts are having problems retaining teachers because of low pay, inadequate supplies or issues surrounding personal safety and disruptive students. Foreign teachers fill positions in key shortage areas, math, science and special education. Great teachers know no boundaries but home grown talent seems to be abandoning our neediest students..
